In memory of Jean Baptiste Apuatimi

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to great Tiwi senior artist, and friend, Jean Baptiste Apuatimi. As a woman of culture and tradition, Jean’s paintings have come to represent the strength of Tiwi knowledge, and continuation of indigenous culture throughout history. Jean’s works are strong representations of traditional Tiwi art, knowledge and culture, inspired by her late husband Declan, and refined over a career that spanned 30 years.

Sonia Kurarra Exhibition Opening

Please join us for the exhibition opening of Sonia Kurarra's solo show 'Martuwarra - River Country,' shown in association with Mangkaja Arts, WA.

Thursday February 7th 6-8pm

Sonia's vibrant paintings are strong representations of the Fiztroy River Country where she lives. Her depictions of various fish and waterlife bring her river scenes to life.

Sonia was recently awarded the Most Outstanding Work at the 2012 Hedlands Art Award, for her work 'Martuwarra.' 

Her exhibition runs until 2nd March 2013
